In the strength and conditioning world, there's a running joke that we're just former athletes living out our dreams through the athletes we coach.
I’m definitely no exception—and neither is Aaron. Coming from experience in higher level sports overseas, both myself and Aaron saw the need for access to professional strength & conditioning for the athletes and the community in Singapore.
Robbie's Story
Before I was a coach, I was an athlete, and if I say so myself, I wasn’t half bad. By 16, I was playing Rugby Union at the highest level I could for my age and even had the honour of wearing a Scotland jersey. It felt like I was on track to achieve my childhood dreams. But by 22, those dreams had faded. Years of relentless competition left me with knee, ankle, and facial surgeries that made me question whether I could keep going. The love for sport still pumps through my veins, but there’s always been a part of me that wonders:
“What if I had been stronger? Fitter? Better prepared?”Back then, strength and conditioning was an emerging industry. We didn’t know what we were missing, and what little training we did was basic at best—bicep curls in front of the mirror and a few sets of bench press. After moving to Singapore working in the fitness industry, I saw the need for a strength & conditioning service available to the everyday athletes in singapore.
Aaron's Story
Aaron's grew up playing every sport he could get himself into, swimming, cricket & even judo! Rugby however was the main focus, playing locally and regionally back in the UK. Without access or understanding of what it takes to compete at a higher level his rugby playing days stopped during university, thats where his coaching career kicked in.
Aaron’s career in strength and conditioning speaks for itself. As the head S&C coach for Singapore’s national rugby team, he built on a foundation of working at the highest levels of sports, from working with Formula 2 and Formula E drivers to the various rugby teams in London, finally ending with a stint at Harlequins rugby team. During his time in Singapore he has coached athletes from all levels and sports, with a majority in tennis and field sports, most recently Aaron supported Singaporean Rower Aisyah Rafaee in reaching the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. His ability to elevate athletes' performance has earned him a reputation as one of Singapore’s premier strength and conditioning coaches.
The Athletic Collective Vision
From the moment we teamed up, Aaron and I shared the same goal: to elevate Singapore’s sports environment by making professional-level training accessible to everyone.
Athletic Collective was born out of that vision—a space where athletes, no matter their level, can train like the pros, with the support, preparation, and systems they need to succeed.
At Athletic Collective, we bring the training methodologies of professional sports to everyone in Singapore. Our systems, developed from years of experience in elite sports, delivers world-class strength and conditioning programs tailored to your goals—whether you're aiming to compete nationally, complete your first 5km, or simply improve your athletic performance, led by a team of specialist coaches.
Our vision is to build a thriving sports performance community, expanding access to the tools, knowledge, and training once reserved for the pros. By working with a diverse range of athletes, sports, and clubs, we aim to elevate athletic potential across Singapore, helping you achieve your goals while improving your health and lifestyle.
